Solubility: The dye is very well soluble in alcohols (such as methanol or ethanol), acetonitrile or DMSO. The dye is also well enough soluble in aqueous solution to allow spectroscopic applications (c < 10-4 M).

Description for Applications: Fluorescent BODIPY dye, which is photochemically stable upon excitation at 500 nm, but undergoes photochemical reaction upon excitation at 355 nm, whereupon reactive intermediate quinone methide is formed. Quinone methide reacts with proteins, so the dye can be used in photochemical labeling of proteins.
